🚨84 Lac Sneaker Swapping Scam lands dentist in Jail.

In Ahmedabad, Parth Sharma and Aryaveer Singh swapped 1,073 pairs of shoes with counterfeits worth Rs 84 lakh.
When branded shoes worth Rs 84 lakh were bought online and returned to a firm over nine months, it raised the alarm — and rightly so. The shoes were found to be counterfeit, and the fraud was traced to Kheda, where a 24-year-old dentist was found to be the centre of the crafty caper.
Matar police on Thursday arrested Parth Sharma, a resident of Sokhda, and booked his partner-in-crime, Aryaveer Singh from Maharanibaug in New Delhi, for the con.
Their method of operation was shockingly simple yet audacious. Between June 26, 2023, and March 15, 2024, Sharma and Singh allegedly executed the switcheroo, replacing a staggering 1,073 pairs of branded shoes with counterfeit ones. The pair bought and replaced an average of four pairs a day over the course of those nine months.
Ateeq Ahmed Syed, an enforcement officer with Instacart Services Private Ltd, realized something was fishy on March 21 when he noticed an unusual influx of returned footwear. “The shoes were bought through an online shopping portal. An inquiry revealed that a man named Parth Sharma had used 500 different IDs on the website to buy two top models of shoes. He would return it, replacing the original pair with counterfeit ones, causing the firm a loss of Rs 84 lakh,” said Syed in his FIR.
Inspector Keval Vekaria of the Matar police revealed that Sharma, who got his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) last year, was looking for part-time business opportunities. Sharma met Singh approximately a year ago through a social media platform.
“According to Sharma, Singh proposed purchasing original shoes and replacing them with duplicates. Sharma would procure shoes and swap them within 15 days. He intentionally avoided disclosing his exact address. He would meet the delivery personnel at various locations to prevent his residence from being identified,” said Vekaria.
Vekaria added that Sharma created different IDs on the shopping portal using various Aadhaar cards and phone numbers. The police are investigating how he procured them.
Matar police filed a complaint against Sharma and Singh for cheating, forgery, producing forged documents as genuine, forgery with the purpose of cheating, and criminal conspiracy. Vekaria said that Singh is on the run.
