Received a parcel you did not order? Is cash on delivery your go-to mode of payment? We have a piece of news! One time password (OTP) is a verification initiative taken many by e-commerce websites such as Amazon, Myntra, Flipkart etc. While OTP delivery became a secure way to prevent online fraud on fake deliveries, on the flip side it paved the way for another online fraud of OTP package delivery scams. A parcel delivery scam is a type of fraud in which you are tricked into paying for a package you did not order. Once the OTP is shared or you click on the link shared to pay for the delivery, your phone will be cloned and the scammers will get a hold of your sensitive information through that!
Follow these steps to prevent being scammed:
1. NEVER share OTP with anyone.
2. Never click on untrusted links or give your personal information to websites.
3. If you receive a suspicious delivery do not accept it.
4. Always keep track of your parcel and even make your family members aware of it if you are expecting a package delivery.
